COVID-19 Update #1

To the Fruitland Covenant Church family,

In considering the latest information and guidelines available, we, the council and pastor, have made the difficult decision to suspend all large group activities for the next two weeks, from March 16 – March 30th.

This includes:
– Wednesday night youth group as well as Family, Fun, Food- Sunday morning worship services and Sunday School
We will keep you updated regularly on changes, will continue to monitor and discuss the situation, and make decisions about future gatherings.

There will not be a service at the church. We are inviting you instead to gather online where we will stream the worship service. Watch for details soon on how to watch and participate.

The church building will be open Tuesday and Thursday, from 8:oo am – 1:00 pm, and other times as needed. If you are sick, please stay home. If you need assistance, please contact Pastor Carl or Bobbie Jo in the church office and we will make arrangements for you.

Though we won’t be meeting physically together on Sunday morning, we are still, as our Covenant for Christian Community says, “a body of believers brought together by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ” and as such, “called to live a life of remarkable love.”  Therefore we will be seeking ways to love and encourage one another in the midst of these unprecedented times. Members of the council will be calling every regular attender and checking in to see how they are doing and if there is any way we can be of assistance. If you, or someone you know needs help, whether it’s food, help with running errands, household work, or financial assistance, please contact Pastor Carl or Sharon Barnhardt, our Congregational Care team leader.

We ask you to continue to pray and trust in God during these times of uncertainty. Pray that we would be known as a people of faith, hope, and love.

While our public services are suspended for now, the mission and ministry of FCC is moving forward, as we support local and world missions. Additionally, there are still utility bills, mortgage payments, and staff to be paid. We are asking you to continue to give and and invest in what God is doing in and through FCC. You may give in one of the following ways:    – Mail a check to the church
    – Drop off a check to the church during business hours
    – Give online or through an app on your phone. If you have not done this before, this is a great opportunity to explore this option: check it out at

Please follow the latest guidelines from the CDC as well as state and federal governments about social distancing, hygiene practices, and how you can help slow the spread of COVID-19.

We will be striving to provide additional resources online and through other means to help you stay connected to one another as well as love and serve God in these unique circumstances.

If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
